Call for contributions

Kia ora (“Life to you!”) from Aotearoa New Zealand.

We invite leaders, practitioners and beneficiaries of inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education to contribute their thinking and experiences to the ICDE World Conference, November 2025.

Our central theme is Ako: Exchanging ideas for inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education.

With four sub-themes:

  • Accessibility and Resilience
  • Context and Quality
  • Indigeneity
  • Innovation and Openness

Acceptance criteria for each contribution is as follows:

  • Clear alignment with your chosen theme(s). Contributions aligned with additional topics including Lifelong Learning and other contemporary matters will also be considered.
  • Quality of scholarship.
  • Contribution to knowledge.

All submissions should be in English: If you would like to submit or present in a language other than English, please let us know beforehand at amika@conference.nz.

  • Accepted papers may be eligible for publication in Open Praxis subsequent to the conference.

  • Ideal for presenting preliminary research results, sparking discussion, sharing perspectives, and seeking feedback from peers.
  • Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by representatives of conference hosts.
Workshops and panel proposalsProposal (450-500 words)50mins
  • Proposal must specify:
    • activities and anticipated outcomes of the workshop; or
    • panel members and format of the panel.
  • We encourage app-based and small group engagement with workshop participants, or generous opportunities for participant Q&A for panel attendees.
  • Proposals will be peer-reviewed by representatives of conference hosts.
PostersAbstract (100-150 words)20mins
  • Abstracts must include the title and general content of the poster.
  • Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by representatives of the conference hosts.
  • Submission requirements will be sent to those whose poster contribution is accepted.

Please note; that in person (non-virtual) attendance at the conference in Aotearoa New Zealand is a requirement of contribution acceptance. No virtual presentations are possible.

All full papers not included in the Open Praxis Special Issue, all concise talk papers, all workshop and panel proposals, and all poster abstracts will be published in conference proceedings in 2026.
